Cape Raoul is considered one of the most spectacular cliff top walks in Australia.
You will appreciate this for yourself when you stand on the edge of a 300-metre high cliff with commanding views of the coastline, before descending onto the Cape Raoul plateau with its impressive dolomite pillar cape.
The stunning coastal seascapes to be enjoyed include rock platforms, towering columns, plunging cliffs, islands and swirling oceans.
The walk is approximately 14km’s return and walkers should allow at least 5-hours return for this trip.
Graded as a Level 3 walk, this means that only those proficient in bush walking and with a moderate level of fitness should consider this walking track. You can expect tracks to be steep in sections and have a rough surface and perhaps many steps.
Walkers should ensure they have sturdy walking shoes or boots, sun hat, sun block, sunglasses, clothes to suit the weather, raincoat and woollen jumper. You should also wear thermal leggings or shorts. Long cotton trousers or jeans are not recommended. Please also take a warm hat or beanie, gloves, waterproof trousers, your lunch, a drink and a map.
Due to hazardous cliffs this track is not recommended for children under age 14. Please supervise children at all times.
Please note that pets are not permitted on this track. Firearms and bicycles are also prohibited.
Park entry fees DO apply.
Facilities:
Unfortunately there are no facilities at the car park or on track, however public toilets and drinking water can be found at Port Arthur or Nubeena.
